Hoya Carnosa 'Compacta' Hindu Rope Variegata 4"
Hoya carnosa compacta ‘Variegata’
Sometimes called the Variegated Hindu Rope Hoya, this wonderfully strange Hoya produces thick, waxy leaves that twist and curl tightly around trailing stems. Creamy white and pale yellow variegation along the leaf margins makes every vine a little different, with new growth sometimes emerging flushed with pink.
It’s a slow grower, but well worth the wait. Mature plants develop long, cascading vines and can produce clusters of fragrant, star-shaped pink flowers when grown in good light.
Give it bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation and encourage flowering. Plant in a chunky, fast-draining mix and allow the soil to dry substantially between waterings. Its succulent leaves store water, so it handles being a little too dry much better than staying constantly wet.
An excellent choice for a hanging planter, shelf, or plant stand, where its unusual rope-like growth can really show off.
